The Hustle Arenas

 Lagos Markets
Am Releasing This In Honour Of All Lagos State Markets ( Nigeria )
My Lagos, My Vision And Mission
In celebration of Lagos hustle arenas.

As the light of the bright morning comes up
The sounds and footsteps of cars and people wakes the soul of the markets, as the soul of the markets rises from it sleeping bed , traders starts arriving their
various shops and counters, the sound that emanates is the lock of shops been
open in start of a new business day.

In a twinkle of an eye,the market get flooded with people from different parts of
of the country, cars, lorries, commercial buses, tricycles, motorcycles and even
runaway animals searching for foods to eat.

At about 7:10AM in the morning, traders start the arrangement of goods for passers-by
to see, 10mins later all corners are displayed with different goods and materials.

The sounds of the cars and commercial buses won't cease, the roads flooded with
millions of people moving in and out of the market, their footsteps causing a
 "foot-soldier going to war sound".

Shop owners yells out in search of customers, food vendors keep moving about in
order to make sales ,hausa-fulani men keep carrying loads of goods all about the
market from stores to shops and from containers to stores.

Big shop owners will keep sending their workers to go and look for a particular good from other shops in case there's a shortage of the goods, the most bizarre part is the honking of motorcycles and the way they keep manoeuvring around commercial buses and big containers in order to get their customers to their destination on time and pick up a new one.

Different scenarios of arguments don't stop to occur, thugs keep showcasing acts of thuggery.

The CBD(Central Business District) officers keep seizing goods placed at a wrong spot, while traders start running in disorderly manner all in the name of "I want to go and bail out my goods seized by CBD".

The LASTMA officers voice won't cease in the dispersing of stubborn motor-drivers.

The arrangement and packing in of goods by traders is another issue, when the CBD are caught on sight from afar, the traders will take their goods and hide them as much as possible and when they (CBD) have left those same traders will bring out their goods because they want to make sales for the day.  The CBD are not the only threat traders face, different personnel keep meeting with traders to collect some undisclosed amounts of money 'Agbero'

The sounds from the woofer of home theatre and home video material sellers won't subdue, likewise different air pollution caused by heavy vehicles conveying imported goods into the market.

Gun shot alerts the traders of the presence of the person controlling the affairs of the market, customers keep flooding the market up with huge sum of money and leaving with full pack of goods bought, taxi men keep increasing the price of fare on sight of a wealthy customer who has bought plenty goods, so as well as traders too.

Fight and argument between traders and some funny customers is another bone of contention, big shop owners arrive in exotic cars, matched with expensive clothes and jewelry, while roadside and counter owners arrive with commercial motorbikes or tricycles. As the big shop owners drivers zoom off so as the motorbike drivers and tricycles vanish into thin air.

Hawkers keep shouting and advertising their products with some tones of local advertisement style, the voice of soft drink and sachet (pure) water sellers projects into the air for thirsty ones to demand, the markets are filled with different stuffs of unexpected happenings, ask a trader how's market, she replies "we've not sold anything since morning".

Some traders vitrine some funny attitudes all to lure customers into buying their goods, the markets are also filled with different styles of pricing method, that sometimes lead a trader into shunning her customers.

When smoke-fall set in, traders start hollering out, for their hausa-fulani load carriers to come and pack in their goods, so as big shop owners workers start packing their goods into their stores. Ascertaining the sales of the day follows during packing, and dues are paid, while some are postponed. The rate of the people in the market starts shrinking.

Some traders and big shop owners take huge amount of money from the day sales to their homes, while some, the reverse is the case. Drivers arrive to carry their bosses to there dulcet homes and counter owners look out for commercial vehicles to take them back to there different dwellings.

This is how the business of the day ends.
